Boy Scouts of America Troop 80

42 Years of Scouting 1976 to 2018

Troop 80 is very happy to be, once again, chartered by Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company. After a brief break, Troop 80 is rebuilding the Scouting program in Jackson Township. We are dedicated to presenting a strong program to our youth by instilling leadership qualities and outdoor skills they can use throughout their lifetime. If you think you have a youth 11 years or older that would be interested in joining, please contact Mark Kresge at mkresge529@gmail.com or 570-982-4175 or stop by our meetings held Tuesday evenings at 7 PM in the lower level of the Fire Hall.

After 42 years of scouting, Troop 80 was unable to re-charter due to lack of scouts and was forced to close its doors on December 31, 2018. It is by far most a said and difficult thing to have to do. I have been in scouting for 16 years every since my son joined as a Tiger Scout. He eventually went on to become an Eagle Scout. Scouting was one of my high points in life. Going on camping trips, outdoor cooking, summer camp with daily naps, teaching, learning things myself and spending time with my son. I was asked to join the Eagle Board and have done so. My scouting journey continues. David J. McNeese, Sr., Scoutmaster

“Be Prepared… the meaning of the motto is that a scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise.” Sir Robert Baden-Powell

The fire company is the chartered organization for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 80. The troop was formed in 1976. A few leaders and scouts have gone on to join the fire company. We meet from September to June. NO meetings in July or August. Stop by and see us if you have a boy between the ages of 11 – 17 that would like to join scouts. Please contact the following for more info.

In spring of 2008 to fall 2017 the troop under PENNDOT joined the Adopt-A- Highway program. Our commitment is to clean Camp Akiba Road four times a year. The road runs though Chestnut Township and Jackson Township for two miles.
