On February 6, 2024 at 0944 hours – Fire Stations 27 and 34 with EMS 921 were dispatched to the 500 block of Cays Rd for a residential structure fire with entrapment. Caller states house is filled with smoke, she is unable to breath and is hanging out of the window. Other occupant jumped out of the second floor window. Male laying on ground and bleeding from his foot.
0947 hours EMS requested medevac be placed on standby.
0951 hours – With 27-7 on scene reported smoke showing, working fire. Re-alert Fire Stations 27 and 34, with Tanker from Station 23, Station 43 and 47 for R.I.T.
EMS request additional unit and for medevac to fly. Male in 60’s jump out second story window with a 12-15 foot fall. Has open ankle fracture. Landing zone would be across the road in the open field.
0955 hours – 27-7 report female had been extricated from the residents.
Fire was reported to be in basement by the wood stove. Fire did extend to the first division.
Jackson Township Road Crew assisted with traffic control and with shutting down Cays Rd for emergency vehicles. Remember no fire hydrants in the county. Firefighters have to bring their water with them via tankers and then find a near by water source for additional water. The water site established was at Mountain Rd and Rinker Rd.
